Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
Well, I'm running out of excuses to keep me from getting around to lifting the body of my '69. (Actually, I'm probably going to tie the body to my lift upper area, and lower the frame out from under it.) Most of it seems straightforward, but are there any hidden issues I need to look for? (I did just happen to stumble upon a small grounding strap between the frame and birdcage that wasn't obvious at first.) Also, on the front frame horns, is unbolting the four bolts on each side sufficient (ie: not removing the front bumper braces) to allow stuff to clear as the body is lifted/dropped? Also, in addition to the front, I'm contemplating supporting the rear of the body. Needed, or just wasted time and effort?

Thanks for any advice,
Mike

Hey Mike, going nutz yet??? lovely bunch of cold weather....

Where was that ground strap located?? I have never seen one on my car...just the batt to the frame, cable on pass side engine mount to frame/engine....

How come the separation,?? what issues are there being addressed???

I want to try out the C4 f&r suspension I put on my spare frame.
The ground strap was connected to the left front body mount gusset underneath the ??? Crap, what do you call the lower side panels that hide the frame? Additional question: What is the "cushion" material between the gas tank and the frame crossmembers? I hate to spend $15 dollars in shipping charges if I can get a similar material at a local hardware store. Anyone know what this stuff is? (I don't have close access to the tank for a good look yet.)

I wadded up a few layers of black roofing felt off a roll I have....been a few years now, no issues....

:2nd:

I think the stuff the factory used for cusioning is roofing material like Gene said. I put some on the straps that hold the tank down also.

Whe I pulled the body off mine I missed the metal cable that goes between the seat belt mount plates on the body and the frame. I don't know how I missed it, not like it's hidden or anything.

I'm glad the consensus is a roofing material type stuff. That's what it looked like to me, too. I'll take a peek in the roofing section of the local hardware store to see if I can get some reasonably cheap. I threw a bunch of that stuff away when I moved south a couple years ago.
Larry: I had to deal with the seatbelt loop thing a while ago. The loop and my rear torsion tube try to occupy the same space. When I get things back together, I have to make a custom loop to fit around the tube.

Thanks for the help guys!

Im guessing its weight per roll but dont quote me on it. I know its thicker than the 20lb lol
Here we pretty much only use the 30lb and I compared it to the strips I took off the tank straps and it looked to be exactly the same thickness.

Heck. Go to a few new housing subdivisions in progress...you'll find plenty of scraps there laying around. I don't know that you can buy it in any less than a full roll. I've got a couple rolls in the attic if you need me to send you some. Just let me know.
