Settin' here in the front room last night looking at--uh--VetteMod, yeah, that's it--on the computer and I heard a car come RACING down the street--big ol' V8 engine just hauling ASS --must have been doing over 90---pretty goddam fast considering the street is only about 6 blocks long from the direction he was coming (with a stoplight & a stop sign too).
Unfortunately for him, in the next block the street dead ends into an irrigation canal...probably 40 feet wide at least from bank to bank......
Gotta give the guy credit for being a good driver, or at least lucky---there's no widened turn around area or even reflective barriers at the end of the street there. It just ends. Maybe 30 feet from the canal. He managed to get at least most of a 180*, went between the parks maintenence garage on one side and the iron pedestrian bridge on the other side --backwards!--& hit no cars parked on the street.......In the photo, the front of the car is facing the direction he was coming from. I'll repeat, that canal is at least 40 feet wide bank to bank.
If only he would have NOT hit the brakes and just kept going full bore, he probably could have made a clean 'Dukes of Hazard' jump and kept on going....at least to the t-bone intersection a block beyond, but there he would have crashed into a house if he didn't make that corner.....

It sure made for a good neighborhood get-together out on the street, complete with two dozen cop cars, fire trucks, ambulances etc. with lights flashing and radios crackling......

Poor old Caddy, I guess it went out in a blaze of glory, but it's a crying shame to see such a nice car end up like that.....

(but why are the windshield wipers up? Maybe he was trying to wipe the water off so he could see where he was going from there? :D)

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Am I that easy to see through??

They thought I was 27 years old, hey, that's worth something, ain't it?

Damn, I like those old Caddys. I had an 84 some years ago that I had the 4 litre engine removed from and an 8 litre Caddy big block installed in it's place. Cornered like shit but it was mighty fast in a straight line :D

I had an 81 "Bustle back" with that POS HT4100. I loaned it out, and a guy didn't check the oil. Spun a rear main.
Engine was a POS, and I peddled it off. The kids still miss that car. It truely was a "Land Yacht." FWD, so no hump. 3 in front, 4 in rear, and room for 3 bodies in the trunk.:devil:

Eh, my old '73 Grandville convertible, had a easy 8 body trunk for normal size folks.....6 if they were overweight....

:devil::cool:
