A fellow (Scott Smith) on the NCrappers Foramen writes about a suspect ebay NOS part he purchased – a 1967 license lamp lens.
He wonders if it’s really NOS GM since the GM box was missing the end tab with the part number. http://www.ncrs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=80875
What is telling however is the lettering molded into the part: he claims seeing a CWD on the surface. More than likely it’s CMD, the initials of the former Custom Mold Dynamics, now known as Trim Parts; which incidentally does manufacture a repro of this same lens. Even though the company name has changed, they still mold parts with a CMD on the surface. It appears that another Novice Corvette Restorer Suspect is being raped by an ebay seller.
Also GM never sold the part with a gasket or screws as a package deal.
Someone (with NCRS access) please advise this fellow to re-examine the lens & if it is CMD, he was scammed and should spread the word about that seller.
