ANYBODY ever find any charcoal in a quadrajet sucked up from the charcoal canister? Specifically, in the float bowl?

How could it get into the float bowl?

But I have experienced bits of degrading rubber fuel line in the float bowl....

I haven't a clue. Let's just say another party on another forum says it's true.

It depends on the Q-Jet model. Most Q-Jets have only a vacuum connection for canister purge. There is no connection between the vacuum connection and the bowl, so on those models it's not possible to get contamination into the bowl. Some other Q-Jet models additionally run the bowl vent itself to the canister through a 3/8" hose and fitting on the front of the airhorn. On these canister-vented Q-Jets it would be possible to get canister contents into the float bowl if the canister were exposed to pressure and flow in the reverse direction. This could happen if the engine backfired with the throttle closed (which would happen if the carb was running lean).
