I'm looking for a radiator fan temperature switch. I see lots with on temps from 180 to 228 degrees. What gives. I'll probably mount this in the head (unless somone tells me a good reason not to).

My computer temp sensor is on the #6-8 bank......computer is set for 195 t/on and ~180 t/off.....as I recall, the cap tube for dash is 1-3 in the stock location.....

seems to run well....:1st:

My DeWitts with dual fans is on at 200* off at 190*. switch is mounted in the rad right under the return hose.

Best to mount coolant temp sensor at rear of cylinder head because that area is always the hottest due to slower circulation. If you mount sensor towards front it may cause the rear are of the heads to become well above what the fan is set to come on at.

If you have efi in closed loop I would run 228 on 204 off

My 90 vette had that and it's aluminum heads handled it fine.

You can always run a ground toggle switch and tap into the temp sensor wire to manually turn on the fans as well.

I looks like a 90 Corvette uses a Standard Motor Products TS82. I can't find any specs on open/close temperatures. Summit sells a TS147 and list nothing for open/close temperatures.

Also, can't find any information on "normal" coolant temps in heads.

The idea is to keep as little temp swing in the motor as possible.

Let the engine tstat modulate to control a constant engine temp and the fan switch modulate to control the fans and thus a constant coolant temp entering the engine.
Mount the fan switch at the rad outlet (cold side) to regulate the coolant temp.

Essentially the same as oem with the clutch fan, basically two separate systems.
