Look what the brown truck delivered:

As a result of this thread:

I bought the crossmember and the big brackets from forum member 68VetteModified and then the spring and mounting hardware from VPB.

I can't wait to install this... however, I'll be swapping the trailing arms at the same time and also I'm going to install upper strut rods...

...Stay tuned....

Please, update us with installation pictures and feedback of the tuning and driving when you get that far. :)

Is the spring the same as the stock mounted VBP plastic spring I have on my car for years now???

if it is, just the brackets, and I could go dual mount:? does it ride as smooth? course that's hard to say unless doing a 1-1 direct comparo....

Gene -
I had the same question -- When I called - I found out the springs are diffrent layup schedules - you can see it when you compare them side by side.
They were even pretty insistent that the placement of the supports had to ne close to the spec -- the same reason I expect - How the spring is built, and where it is "bent."

So - Now I'll have a monoleaf with about 20K miles and 20+ years on it for sale-- cheap -- or build a real sweet and strong Crossbow. I'm leaning (haha) towards the crossbow...
Why mess with selling when I can mess with weapons?

Cheers - Jim

Ain't that freek weird.....about 50+ years ago, the hood guys got some WW2 rifle stocks, and so a old auto leaf spring....

built a cross bow, wound up with some sort of crank rig, shot a variety of shit, steel darts, good kickback with them, and then the more normal arrows....too long ago to remember much, just Pete and me messing around with it, the targets and the impression it left....

and then my wife's younger son, has a crossbow here, got several deer and other game, pigs I think...nice chow, time to eat....
