Rear Window Hatch Gasket

Hi guys.

I have a 1980 Corvette which I bought in 1982. I had the Rear Window Modified so that it's a hatchback.

I just dug up the magazine "Vette" Jan/Feb 1980. I never throw something out.

It has the complete DIY Hatchvette.

Cars and Concepts released the kit for about $700

The gasket is now staring to leak with heavy rain. You'd think this stuff would last more than 30 years

Does anyone know where to get a replacement gasket or/and if it is the same gasket as was used on the 1982 hatchback?

Thanks for your time.

not available anymore. What you could do is have someone measure the weatherstrip off a C4, hope it's long enough. The C4 one is 2 pieces joined in the corners, easily glued together with weatherstrip adhesive. It's designed for a hatchback hatch....might just do the trick.

That's not good news.

I guess I'll try looking at your suggestion.

Thanks

I searched a bit farther and came across part number A2951 in the Ecklers catalog. It seems this is the gasket for the 1982 Collector's edition rear hatchback. It sells for $200. I sent an email to Ecklers and asked if it is a direct swap. Waiting for a reply. Might get lucky unless there is something radically different. Apparently Ecklers sold the conversion back in the 80's.
