Removing carpet adhesive

What should I put on it to soften it? I know in some spots something was leaking and it was easy to scrap off but I don't know what it is.

I imagine a heat gun would help also.


Also what color do you think would look good on the floor, spatter paint of just plain old flat or satin black.

The doors will be painted satin black and I think I'll continue that into the floor



I'm going to put some panels back on like the kick panels, some are pretty heavy though
