I drove this 63 when it was new – only once. But coming from an anemic MG-B, to a 4:11 fuelie Corvette was just breath taking and one of those experiences that you never forget. It scared the beJeezes out of me several times.

In 1970 I bought it and drove it until starting a frame off in 1976. The new paint lifted the next year and it just sat waiting for reassembly. Other priorities ensued, but today it finally left for another strip and repaint in Ermine White and final assembly. I’m excited, it’s only 15 miles away and in good hands.

Next summer: be on the lookout for a real gen-u-ine FI coupe with Saddle leather, PW, PB with the metallic brakes, Wonderbar and 2 bar KO’s. I truly collected the parts for this beauty for over 35 years when everything was real GM or Delco, before many repro’s were even being made or needed. It’s still pure to it’s heritage, if I must be Corvette ethnocentric (and I am).

Some of the dates may not be exact, but I do drive all my cars and my cars have only been trailer queens when they broke. A Corvette friend who is in Beruit, once related to me that: as far as dates are concerned, the Arabs always sat under the fig trees and ate their dates. And that about sums up my view. No restamps for me. ☺

Time to put a LSx engine in it....with overdrive tranny.....:pprrtt::shocking:

kidding, of course.....:drink::drink:

33 years? There's hope for me yet :D

I too prefer a driver over a trailer queen, cars were meant to be driven.

"33 years" Yep I was busy. 100 hours work weeks. 52 weeks a year.
But in November of 2001 I said there is no fun in that, and basically walked away from my business. TT you're a young fellow and have long ways to beat my record. http://vettemod.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I still Love Corvettes. But my knees, hips, back, mental state say - lets someone else do it. I'm fortunate to have found another good mechanic and a good reserve. He is fastidious, honest and a 56, 59, 95 owner also.

I cannot wait to hear that FI whooshing sound and those solid lifters. That 4:11 FI response would pin me in the seat.
