Anyone remember Norval? He lives in Ontario Canada and has the Orange 75' with a blower. I haven't seen him post on any forum for months. Last I heard he was thinking of selling and not into Vette's anymore. Any truth to this?

Yup, I emailed back and forth with him a couple notes about his leaving and selling the vette....he had a new horse, having to retire his favorite old one, the vette was a engineering project he enjoyed, but he felt it was wrung out far as he could....

have to admit he wrung it pretty tight though....

he did sell the car, I have switched computers long since that happened, and so don't have any emails for/from him....

He is right in your neck of the woods if your location is correct.

Also, he registered here under shadow1 (the name of his new horsey) :D

Shadow was killed in an accident, and he is very upset about it. I THINK he still has the car also.

OH NO, I didn't catch THAT....shit, that's too bad....:crap:

hope he found another horse, he was really into that....

he did sell the car,
I heard it was up for sale but didn't know it sold. What an amazing car.

Yes he is, as a matter of fact I've been to his place and was amazed when I saw his garage/shop. I was even more impressed with him as a person. Very knowledgable and helpfull.

Very sorry to hear about Shadow and as for his car, I thought I read above that it's sold. Glad to hear he's still somewhere on this forum, he's a great asset to any forum.

You can reach Norval Wilhelm at the University of Waterloo. Do a staff search under Engineering Services.

Thanks red74, I believe I may have his phone # around somewhere but if he's left the forum for personal reasons I don't want to be bothering him outside the forum. He hasn't replied to my pm, so I'll just give it time, I'm sure he's pretty busy.

Just an update:
I received a reply from Norval, Shadow did pass away and he's now riding another horse Rio. He had the Vette for sale but decided not to sell it after all. He's doing fine and putting much needed time into riding these days.

Thanks for everyone's help in getting a hold of him.

Hope you said hello from the motley crew......tell him to show his ass around here from time to time, if nothing but to say hello....

A second, open Thank You letter to Norval.

I posted an open letter to Norval in "another forum" quite a while back, but I've been working on a couple new projects since then, and have continued to use his philosophy to keep from getting overly frustrated with my progress speed and results. He mentioned that he frequently re-does some of his projects one or two additional times until he's satisfied with the end result. I used to get frustrated with how frequently I needed to "tweak" my designs and creations, but after reading Norval's comment, I realized I was in good company. I respected his fabricating talent, and if he does a redo every now and then, well, I can deal with having to do the same.

So, again, thanks Norval.

hehe....Mike, there were several redo's on that rack install, but none on the electricals, and what I thought maybe was a computer ground issue proves to be not the case, with time...

and NOW, I"m SO sick of painting and redoing I just scream, I tossed the towel this afternoon, at this point, the car is getting shot and that's IT....no more...

:eek::smash:

Yeah, there are times when it's a bit difficult to explain to a non-enthusiast that we do this stuff for enjoyment. :amused:

I DO enjoy the mechanicals/electronics, end of things, but I absolutely HATE paint and body work, nothing but a large PIA....

:(:crutches:

Yeah, I understand. I stripped and painted my '69 several years ago. It's work. I gotta respect the guys who can do this every day.

Mechanics is Wrenchin' :smash:
Body Work is an ART.... ;)

I"m getting ready to paint it with a brush too....

:crap: it's a LOT more PIA than I bargained for, put it that way....

I was just going to scuff sand it, and shoot it....then all the cracks showed up like a nut farm....or a pine forest in a tornado....

so cut and splice, sand primer, more filler, :crap::twitch:
