Clinging to my guns and religion in KCMO.
I'm slowly running out of ideas of getting more weight out of the '69, and the later seats look more comfortable, and I'm told are noticeably lighter. Anybody got any weight numbers on different (and supportive) seats that are transplantable into the older C3s?

thanks,
Mike

ps: My weight reduction goal is to lighten the car without it being apparent or blatantly obvious that anything has been changed or removed. In other words, just replacing heavy components with newer lighter parts.

The C5 power seat is pretty heavy, a manual is really light, they are however lighter than the early C3 seats. The pace car style seats are lighter than the earlier ones too.

I have some C5 seats and some 70s I could weigh...if I don't forget.

I appreciate it. Any seats I put in the car will be manual, as I would probably lower the seat anyway if possible.

Just finished the build on the 68 last week and C5 seats were part of it. The C-5 power seat is heavier than the stock 68 seat, but the C-5 power seat actually sits lower than the C-5 manual seat on the passenger side.

With the power you can get the seat almost flat on the floor. I'm 5'11'', the car is a ragtop and are they ever comfortable! Money well spent.

That can't be right, the C5 power seat is significantly higher even in the lowest setting, the manual seat is about as low as it gets if you cut off the risers. I modified a power and manual one to fit in a 77 by removing the risers and fabbing up new ones. The power seat requires more clearance otherwise the motor is pinned to the floor an using them will distort the frame if the motors don't have a little room to move.

It surprised the heck out of me as well. I made identical mounts for both sides and when I sat in the passenger side after bolting it down my head would hit the top getting into the car. When sitting in the passenger seat I'm actually looking at the bottom of the header bar. My thoughts were "I'm glad I don't have to sit on this side of the car"!

I even went so far as to buy a set of manual tracks for the drivers side and ended up not needing them. Don't the 77's have steel floor pans and are more of a flat configuration? The 68 has a recessed area in the floor pan and the motor mechanism fits down in there like it was made for it.

Maybe it's because the pass side has no inclination control and you sit pretty straight up, the drivers side you can incline it so the front of the seat is up and the rear hangs back, that will give more headroom.

The 77 has steel floor pans yes. I know the 68 has a glass floor, same recessed floor as the 69. That's true, the motor should fall into that recess nicely...hmmmm...good thinking.

Just weighed some C5 sport seats with no seat tracks but with lumbar pump and related. 20.9 lbs
