see what happens when i get pissed

Never ever close up a new hood before getting things aligned. These latches will not let go if they are misaligned.

I guess this is going to be my mod hood. An aluminum, Ti or SS plate may look good over that.

LONG time ago, I slung a combo wrench SO hard, the tine of the open end caught just right and put a hole in the fender, I was rocket pissed, but NEVER expected THAT.....seeing that I just cracked up laughing.....fucking CAR.....

:cussing::bounce:

Personally I would have tried to unbolt the hood hinge from under, so you could move the hood and realign the latches enough to let them go.

Yes, and so was described to me by a vette shop years ago.....and was a thing I watched for when messing with my hood change out years ago....

You can not unbolt the hinge from the bottom, the lower part obscured by the inner fender, how are you going to unbolt it if you can not access the bolts?

so I guess popping out the plugs and using a screwdriver didn't help??

I bought a piece of rod stock and tried for some time but something was wrong. There was no spring action so i assumed the latch was jammed in the full open position. This was a hood i bought for $100. They had shaved one side so the alignment was off because i centered it to make the gaps equal. I closed the thing up before going on track because i had to. I didn't put the time into making sure the latches lined up so even with the latch in full open position the latch was still catching.

All the talk about going in from underneath i don't get, because you can't see anything. The latches are on top of a shelf so there's no way. I don't get the hinge thing either as the hood covers the bolts.

I certainly wasn't going to tear the rest of the car up to save a $100 hood.

Silly me.
I bolted/unbolted the hinge that way when I aligned my hood, BUT headlights and radiator were not in the way.
I tend to forget that unlike me, most users prefer to keep their car in one part :tomato:

I had the same thing happen to me. I was able to reach up from the bottom. I took my nonpower master cylinder loose and moved it out of the way. I then worked for about an hour with a stubby open end wrench (until my hand cramped up). But I was able to get the nuts off and open the hood. Yes, it was a pita!
