I think those UPS stores are franchise operations, and so upcharge over the UPS quoted rates.....I ship by USPS if at all possible....
just sent my son in Ca. a ton of tools in two flat rate USPS boxes they addy....about 40 lbs worth for 25 bux.....

UPS got me for $42 with their shipping calculator. I put the destination, weight and size of the box in. Printed the shipping label and got a bill weeks later for another $42, no explanation.

i usually use the calculator online and then go to the store to ship my package, FedEx, UPS, USPS, all were within a few bux of the calculator.... maybe I was lucky so far but I never printed shipping labels, just shipped from the store....

I've never had that big of a difference, but I don't think I've ever shipped for the same price that was quoted on the web sites. Really pisses me off as I usually charge for shipping based on the calculators. I even printed a calculator page and took it with me to Fedex whan I shipped a large item. The nice lady handed me a complaint form and charged me what her system said to charge, not the quoted amount.
USPS flat rate is the way to go if it fits. No wonder they're going under though. I've shipped some awfully heavy items for $14. That can't be cost effective for them.

I will do flat rate shipping from now on. 100.00 for small packages 200.00 for large. By the time you buy boxes and the time you spend in the shipping process isn't worth the time to ship anything. Easier to toss the stuff in the trash. UPS is a rip off they quote you a low price then rape you when you go to ship it. I thought about selling parts from my donor 90 vette but won't now. If you look at a detail of your shipment they hit you with a 4.50 fuel surcharge.
Seems like ever since the ebay rave ups has doubled their shipment cost. I got quote like 40.00 for my shipment but at the store it was 70.00 to ship.
