Pleasantly shocked by the Volt, occurred to me to take a nice drive down to the Chevy dealer and take a look at one, salesman very nice, got the electronic key, and so we drove around the car lot,....quiet and tight is the order of the day....decent get up and go, a/c very effective, and dig THIS shit....

I"m 6'5" 225, and have never sat in any car since my '73 Granville convertible, that had so much leg room I did NOT have to pull the seat all the way back, VOLT had a TT wheel too, seat forward about 4 notches to easy reach the wheel on top, and plenty of knee room to boot, had NO issue with my neck/head hitting and having to duck either.....

MY honest opinion is that it's a shocking decent ride.....

fit and finish are really good as anything else out there, plenty of room for the sales guy next to me also, and he weigh maybe 60 lbs more than me....

good size trunk too, shame they don't make a 2 door version....convertible....

:smash::)

what color did you order?

NONE, I was straight up with the saleman, but he didn't mind letting me drive it....very quiet and nice made,

they need a 2 door convertible for me to be the least bit interested....

bet that would not be quiet though....

speaking for room, Gene, did you ever tried a Honda Fit or a Yaris, I'm always amazed how roomy those little things are.
If you don't do a lot of stop'n'go/city travel, an hybrid is not worth the investment.
And here is a thread that won't die until we reach a piss christ singularity :rofl::rofl::rofl:

41k base price....something better be nice about it, besides the warm feeling it gives a greenie when driving one.

Weigh less than that Volt's drive train, including that 700? lbs battery....

My recollection is that it weighs 410 pounds. I read that somewhere, so maybe I'm mistaken. The point that I've made in several posts, is that it has the energy equivalent, if once again not mistaken, of about 1 1/2 gallons of gasoline. 1 1/2 gallons of gas weights about 10 pounds. Replacing a 10 pound energy source with a comparable 410 pound energy source doesn't make seem to be an efficient thing to do.

I'd like to drive one also.

with the added expense of a decent home charger, the lack of a network of "Solyndra" government charging stations, the expected battery life, their replacement cost, the need for an electrician in addition to a mechanic I've decided to wait until the fires go out so to speak. Is it true that one could get electrocuted?

I would like more leg room. I can't stretch out my legs in my 56 or 63, but I'll manage the pain & endure the suffering. :D Frankly I'm fed up with all the different crap in new cars that breaks down after a few years. Rear plastic PW regulators junk & nobody sits in the back but the dogs & threy are not allowed to use PW. Seriously if you have run flat tires, why do you need an expensive battery operated do-dad inside each tire for tire pressure? Don't you ever check them? That on star subscription add ons. GPS in addition to the newer phones GPS. Redundant crap.

This instant commemorative edition horse manure from the 427 white 2012 Corvette to franklin mint. I'm going to order some of those dayglo painting on velvet of the dogs sitting around plating poker. :D

What I mean to say is - I'm not buying a Volt and apparently no one else is either.

Geoff, on your vette seating, I had problems with my '72 so in went a late shark TT column and smaller wheel, used the OEM foam and dropped the seat by removing the rear mounting ears, removed the seat belt cover and cut a wide U slot along the floor front edge with firewall, up to the steering column height, forced the firewall forward and glassed it in cut and bent the brakes and gas to drop the pedals, my knees are now off the wheel, and I comfy as can be drives like my lounge chair....

:bump::harhar: my car is NOT NCRS....hehehehehehe:harhar:
