Ok, everyday something new it seems.

Was doing some trials to get a heat shield in between the starter motor and the header. I mention this because this probably plays a role in it.

In the afternoon tried to start the car. All lights come on etc, but the starter doesn't budge. :confused2:
Went to take a look at the wires, didn't see anything special, tried again and still nothing. Loosened the big nut with the battery cable on the stud and turned the smaller wires some because I thought they were maybe pointing too far back. Engine started, but the next started up the same issue again.

Tightened it further and it seemed to start effortless the next four times.

WTF ? Nut wasn't loose or something the first time I turned it.

Is this a warning for an immenent starter problem or just coincidence ?

I dread taking the damn thing off, since the oil pan and the header is in the way, so I would have to take the header off to do it. Starter motor was checked and looked at by a professional and newly greased when I put it together before getting the car on the road.

i got a hitachi mini starter and no more issues of any kind.

Yup, mini starter for me also, those old heavy OEM starters are just a drag.....

AND the mini is small enough/far enough from headers , you don't need a heat shield.....:smash:
