I was going to fix the crumbled poly junk body mounts on the '79 a while ago....the Vette has been parked ever since...... last time I drove it I also noticed a "clunk" feeling in the steering, the stock steering box is probabybnow finally dead, the wide 275 front tires might have caused additional stress on the old box..... anyways..... the brand new GrandAm rack is sitting on the shelf waiting to be installed....
now I figured it would be nice to have that old VW moving on its on wheels before I block half of my garage with my Vette......
ok, here we go, bleed the brakes and put the wheels on.... well, that would be too easy, right???
Bleeders snapped which made me buy new calipers, which made me think I should do the rotors and wheel bearings as well.... a week later I had the enttire front suspension apart and new ball joints, new tie rod ends.... come to find that some of the front torsion spring leaves are missing....so now I have two cars that are not driveable or moveable ... in a tight two car garage......... waiting for parts, VW springs are on the way.....
probably going to lift the Vette body some time this summer..... :smash::smash:
one thing adds to another..... LOL..... gotta love this hobby.....:smash:

Karsten, got a near 40 years lead on you, through various cars....

maybe closer to 50, actually......

SOSBDD.......shut yo mouff, and git to werk@!!!!!!

:smash::smash::rofl:

Long day. Bleeders popping is never any fun.
I spend most of the time waiting on someone else to get something done. I have a block at the machine shop- he's waiting on bushings for the lifter bores. Once those show up and he gets them in, he can finish hone the cylinders for piston fit, balance the internals, then it's back to me to put it together, once I figure out which heads, cam, and rockers. And then find time to put it in. And when that happens, the steering box comes out for rebuild, some wiring gets cleaned up, some grounds get improved, some frame welding gets done (stiffeners), and who knows what else I'll decide to do while the engine is out. Probably paint everything again.

:mobeer:

I can say that I dont get anything done these days is because, well theres so much to do, dont know where to start LOL

Garage is full, had to get the bikes out of hibernation (done), get the pool up and running (done), fix the few things around the house (done), install backsplash tiles in the kitchen (finishing this today) etc...

The wifes Mustang has a front left ball joint and one of the driveshaft joint to change.

In the garage, same deal, lots of projects going on, before I broke my leg I started to rearrange the shop, put up new shelves-cabinets, finish installing tiles, finish installing the usedbeer disposal (urinal) etc. (Hey I needed a cabinet for the beerfridge).

Need to finish all of this first, this will clear a lot of room in there,

Then I get on the Vette.

Old joke around here.

''I can fix anything in the garage, exept Corvettes!''

I'll get to it.....

Summer is coming and it get harder by the week to justify staying in the garage all weekend long.
Mrs Denpo insist we use any sunny day to get out and take fresh air, especially since we now got a decent DD.
But I still can log 10h by the WE and 1h every evening.
I'll post update tonite, it's coming along nicely.

I'm in the same boat, camaro not done needs paint and I have an oil leak somewhere, trans am in pieces missing parts (a lot of parts), pick up in pieces missing u joint, pushrods and a slew of other parts, vette in pieces has been so for years, monte carlo still needs registration. Argh!!!

Sometimes -- I like to do some dreaming...

But when the Flag drops, the bullshit stops.

Looks like a pushrod/cam operated top mount shock double a arm irs, I want details STAT

TT- YES SIR!

After a long and slow Hiaitus --- yes that is this the topic of this thread - Right -- I've nearly finished (HAHAHA) another suspension. It is a double wishbone, custom upright, bellcrank/cam-pushrod suspension - with athwarts mounted coil-overs, all mounted to a new rear subframe. The dual adjust QA-1s and springs are over there on the bench -- somewhere.

Also on the shelf, and soon for sale, my Giovanni IRS build with all bits and pieces including brand new double mount composite spring - another story.

I'll launch a new thread in a few days - and bring all the details and pics. First, I've been told I must hang a new ceiling in the garage, and then get a new garage door. :banghead:

While you are waiting - you can cruise over to the IRS (not the revenoorers!) forum and there is a Phantomjock's IRS build - I'll be bringing many of those over here. [http://irsforum.boardhost.com]
