im starting the process of the kenwood install.i ordered the unit with a matching bezel[saving orig] any suggestions on the swap ? not sure about re-mounting of gauges. do i need the cushions or gaskets that are between and what to expect ? mongo want to fix without breaking fiber optics and various other unknown stuff. thanks from newbie

I swapped mine out for a din unit. You will need the seal kit or use the old one if it is in good shape. I could have used the lens out of my unit but it was scratched so I picked up a new lens as well. I broke the the seat belt button when trying to remove the clip from the old unit. So you might need one of those as well.

I installed the oil gauge onto the new unit in the car so that I wouldn't have to disconnect the oil pressure line. Be careful when removing and installing the oil gauge. The very last thing you want to be messed up is that line. It breaks or leaks and your new radio will be ruined as well as your carpet...etc.

Make sure that you check the fit before you try installing everything on the new unit. The bezel has 2 posts on the bottom where you have self tapping nuts. ( I think they were self tapping.) These two posts slide into the front top of the center console and with the nuts tighten make for a snug fit. I had my center console and trim plate off while I was doing this so it was pretty easy to get everything apart.

It wasn't that difficult a job. Be patient and remember where all the pieces go in the center console.

That sounds good....I have the stereo with the rear box and front speakers in the kick panel.

The only time it sounds good or I can hear it well is when the car is parked and shut off. The 454 with magnaflows drowns out the stereo:clap:

i'm going to return the xm snap cig unit .muted sounds plus adding 109 bucks per year additional to account didnt seem worth it .i have clear and nice sound with straight cd 's,radio and i-pod..all this to have a clock that works ..ha

Just FYI for you guys doing a radio install. Look on ebay or any place that does Harley radio instals and they sell a nifty pice of plastic that sticks to the top of your radio and keep things from leaking in thru the top. My electra has been full on rained on while riding and no ill effects.

Did you pull out a factory unit? Care to sell it if you did? tks, George

george ,it was not the orig.it was an old craig that didnt even line up with old holes .decided to upgrade with something that looks like it fits and has bluetooth ..
