OK, logic 101, WTF good are those required marker lights way up HIGH.., yellow in front, red in rear??

redoing them on the camper for to keep DOT happy, but can't help ask WHY??

what GOOD are they?? what was the reasoning behind such a silly law??

anyone??

:crutches::bonkers::flash:

The only thing I've ever figured out is they show up on a hill before the headlights do perhaps warning me in advance of another vehicle??

And that's a stretch.

Oh just replace the dang bulbs and stop whining ! :hissyfit:

:D:D:flash: I AM, I AM, had to buy another cheep batch of LED's for the rear, as I fucked up and put the series resistor on the rong end while testing the front setup this morning...so the rears got full 12 to the entire string....

16 bux and some time/effort wasted....not going to KILL me, just PISS ME OFF NO END......

:hissyfit::mad::censored::flash:

So those tree branches can see it coming at night and get out of the way!!??,,:D

any vehicle over 80" wide must have them. So basically it is a law designed to warn other vehicles that it is a wide vehicle is all. Why people put them on pickup trucks I have no idea other then they do pull wide trailers maybe or just for looks. The high mounted rear "red lights" is my guess in case something parks behind the wide vehicle and blocks it tail lights it can still be identified as a wide vehicle from any distance. Most modern trailers have them mounted between the tail lights now though.

Make that 5 each back/front, the the two corner/sides...making 7 per end....

lotsa high up body filler....I put in LED's for cheep...

still see no reason for the law....

nothing making sense, anyway, not that I toally give a damn NOW...but just for knowing...

:shocking: Retagging/inspections in a state like Faryland would not be possible that way....

AFAIK, even MY shark now, could pass a safety inspection....but that emissions crap, they maybe want a carb back on it....nitwits, typical lawyers....

Yep. Pretty much like a lighting system on boat can tell you it's direction purpose (under tow, anchor, etc) and such.

The guys that put them on the trucks, usually just do it for looks:drink:

:clap: heheh....kinda like sailing around the ocean liners back when Baltimore Harbor was busy, they be anchored in the Chesapeak Bay, and so created their own wind patterns, and we knew which end was which, trick was to look at the stacks, if there was smoke, stay the FUCK outta his way....the prop wash alone was enough to swamp most any small boat, less they had a horseshoe up their ass.....

heard enough stories, and seen the action from close enough....:clap::gurney::ill::drink:

Never been there, but I "think" I can understand:thumbs:

Kinda weird looking up at those ships from a small boat, especially when the wind gets strange, and realizing that thing is changing shit around, and never be caught to leeward off one.....

don't ask how I know....:rolleyes::nuts::mobeer:

I going to start another thread....
