Super Cheetah prototype

I'm not convinced my the lettering on the nose, but apart from that it's a gorgeous monster.
Don't you guys think the Viper stole some of the visual clue of the Cheetah?

I didn't know the transmission was coupled to the rear with a single u-joint (no driveshaft). I'll bet there wasn't much room for the driver.

Don't know much about the Cheetah racing history. I thought it was mostly used as a drag racer.

We used to have a Cheetah run with us at VARA races. Over ten years ago at least.

I recall the driver coming into black flag one desert summer day totally fagged out by the heat. We poored cold water in his lap and threw wet towels over his shoulders and he went back out to finish the race.

This was an old guy and one of my personal heroes as I was learning racing. I was proud of him.

Very neat car for its time. The styling is certainly dated, but still pretty wild/cool. I like the placement of the drivetrain but it would be better as an open cockpit design simply for the ventilation.
Would be neat to build a more modern replica. Imagine an LS bolted directly to an MN6. That would be the embodiment of "get in, sit down, shut up and hang on"!
