OK.... Monday (Memorial Day) I took the '79 in for an alignment..... apparently most people hang out by the pool and drink beer on a day off, therefore there was no wait at the tire store, didn't even need an appointment...
On my way home from the shop I drove the car a little faster and pushed a bit more for the first time since I did all this suspension work (front/rear fiberglass spring, Wilwood 6 piston calipers, upper/lower A-arms, etc...)
Suspension: I highly recommend this.... the C3 feels and handles so much better - night and day difference. It's not harsh but definitely a stiff suspension (front at the stiffest setting, rear 2nd stiffest setting).... it's absolutely driveable, it is NOT rattling your fillings out of your teeth.... :smash:
Brakes: holy shit..... again: money well spent..... I have not locked up the wheels yet but that may be because of the 275-40's up front.... I did however find myself lifted off the seat a little while applying the brakes
Disclaimer: I changed from DOT5 fluid to DOT3 when I swapped the calipers.... that may be one reason the brakes feel better now.... also the pad compound is different so it's not a true "apple to apple" comparison....
Funny one: the guy who did my alignment said he's done 4 other old Corvettes over the past two months.... then after he had the '79 on the rack for like 10 min or so he asked me "hey, is there ANYTHING stock on this car ???????"
