Anybody using these ? If they're really a lot brighter than "regular" bulbs then ok but $40 is a little pricey... worth it or not ?????

Bin Lurkin' over them for various 12 volt lighting, interior/camper/forward/headlights/tail lights...just not thinking they are needed...

especially at the price....

tired of seeing 25 cent bulbs priced at 5 bux....

olde grouch here.....:gurney:

I replaced the High and Low beam bulbs in my truck a few months back with the Silverstar Ultra's, and they are brighter and have a wider beam than the originals i took out. And yes they are pricey.

First hand experience is what I was looking for.....

I am considering wetsanding the dull headlight lenses once again (my Mustang) and shooting a few coats of clear.... I've done this before but since it was a cheap car that I did not know I was going to keep (at the time) I did somewhat a half ass job.... didn't sand all of the yellow crud off the lenses....

Now if I go thru this again I want to improve it as much as possible - when I saw the Silvania bulbs I thought it might be worth it .... hey Kevin, the "Ultras" are even more expensive, they're like $50.... screw it I just buy them, somebody must support our economy ...:clap:

I just replaced my first set of Silverstar Ultras after 3 years. I will never go back to the OEM yellow headlights. The light is a lot brighter, whiter, and wider. You won't get HID quality but it is a lot better than stock.

Yes they do cost some $$$ Karsten, but they are worth it. You will get a much clearer light, not that dim yellow light from the factory bulbs.

Wow... just looked at the Zone's website.... didn't know that the standard H4 bulbs are $20... I don't even remember the last time I bought headlight bulbs, thought they're like $5

This is funny: the set of two "Silver Star" bulbs is $39.99... you get a $10 mail in coupon at Auto Zone - valid Nov-Dec.... now... one single bulb is $14.99.... so I bought two single bulbs for $29.98 and saved a penny over their "mail in" offer.... (excl. tax).... WTF ???

Light is brighter with the Silver Star bulbs, now I need to adjust the headlights... I think it's worth the extra money - if you can find a good deal

I wonder just what it is about these new bulbs, some cars at night are highly irritating to be in front of, much less on coming traffic, and so they have to be aimed in the same/similar pattern to stop 'blinding' oncoming traffic, but yet they scatter enough to be irritating....

so the question is, why bother?? any of them REALLY give all that much further a view?? and then, to what use?? only in the country, I suppose, maybe some freeways out there.....

but here in the burbs/cities....why bother??

honest question, not particularly trying to be critical...:bonkers::flash:

I looked into better lites a few years ago and discovered that all these blue tint lites etc might not be better, it has to do with "color temperature" the best apparently mimic the color temp of sunlight, what your eyes see best.
Down here in this huge cosmopolitan mecca, I don't think I've used my high beams once in the last 20 years, even driving up to Orlando.

Back in 70, I had a 69 Mustang and some friends had given me a pair of Cibie high beams, with the separate bulbs. Don't even know what they were called, but really rare in the US at the time, probably illegal too.
When going up I75 in northern Michigan (really dark up there), turn those on and it would turn nite into daylight for miles. Deer were a big problem up there. Best lites I've ever used, with no wiring mods.
