heard the news today, the poncho is effectively dead. i just don't understand how GM operates. not to say that i'm some business guru, but that maybe a good thing. i'm not sure i would want to have the mental faculties where pontiac and olds go the way of the dodo but saturn and buick live on.
no wonder they never bothered coming up with a firebird/trans-am model of the new F-body.
just one step closer to GM closing the doors forever, i think. :goodnight:

GM operates how the US treasury tells them to operate after all the US treasury owns GM.
 
From what I read, Saturn, Hummer, and Opel will be sold or discontinued by the end of the year.
I will be sad to see the Pontiac go also:(, I used to enjoy kickin the GTO's ass with my Buick GranSport. :stirpot::devil:

THE strange thing is for many years PONTIAC outsold CHEBBY in CARS ALONE.....and GMC always has been a better looking truck than Chebby equivalent.....makes NO sense to keep chebby when cutting them would kill some 4000 un needed dealers off the GM ship.....

What they have 6300 stealerships?? Toy has 1700?? something rong in that balance...I had NO idea GM was SO overloaded with sales dweebs, no wonder the ship is sinking....each dweeb getting commission enough to float a house/household and wife/2.5 kids for sure she works also...but with 3X the amount of dweebs fighting over X amount of equivalent sales....something gotta give....

I think that is why they dumped Pontiac/the rest in time....shame really....

not that the Camaro will be anything for Chebby, i'ts going to flop, for sure....

just like the GTO, they will find a way to fuck it up, for sure....too many bean counters and order takers....

They should have offed Buick what a blue hair brand that is. Only cuz the Chinese buy Buick they sacrificed Pontiac. Damn slopes ruining it again, not only are they flooding us all with their junk, their lack of taste now also influences what brand names survives.
 
thanks TT for offering an understandable reason why buick survived. i found it perplexing all the way back when GM killed off olds. i swear i just don't see a whole bunch of buick stuff on the road.
damn shame too. i was driving down the freeway yesterday and saw this electron blue G8 that was just freakin' beautiful.
thing is, i think most people would continue to buy all these brands if GM filed for BK. however, i think it's going to be hard to move a brand that people know are officially dead. no matter what promise GM makes to support them.
the thing i always thought they should do is just pick a couple select models from each brand and only make those. keep the olds 88, buick riv, poncho bonneville, etc. and just kill off individual platforms that don't sell. hell, they could probably make every model in just one or two plants. turn the old BOP into a single entity, only difference would be the emblem on the grill.
but maybe i'm the stupid one.
just waiting for the axe to fall on saturn now....

The G8 is a freeking 4 dr sedan...as such it's a grocery getter for mommy with the screaming kids....

Friend of mine bought the G8 GT and it's a great car. Build quality of the Australian builds is top notch. Good competitor for BMW with rear wheel drive and V8 power.

GM has lost the point and that's why youth buy other brands. They will never get them back.

AND the reason for that is the complete and total domination of the educational system as propagandists for the green weenie movement who HATE cars....

Since Pontiac does not make trucks, and Chevy does, with alot of profit there, it's a no brainer.
Anybody miss Olds? I don't.

Pontiac has always had better interiors and styling, and outsold chebby in CARS ALONE for many years, and GMC is a upscale chebby.....so keep them upscale units, and kill chebby.....

Pontiac would love the vette....

but it don't fit the weenie plans...so, by by vette....no one wants to admit that, anywhere, but you think for 4 seconds the .gov WON't KILL the vette? the very symbol of what they HATE for decades now???
