Talking to a old buddy last night, he does mainly Mopar, anyway the subject of timing chains and my rough idle came up.....keep in mind my problems are greatly reduced, but still there a little bit, I think I should set a glass of water on the intake and see no ripples.....

now, when I assembled this engine 12 years/100k miles ago, I put in a Cloyes double roller set, degreed straight up......

my friend says i'ts stretched and that if I pulled it apart to see the chain I would shit to see the slop....

so I know all about the plastic cam gear shit, and stock chains/gears....

but dunno about the double roller, HIS experiences indicate they don't last much if any longer than stock....

SO????

Solve it once and for all, get a comp cams aluminum cover with tensioner, it's only around 450$ LOL

Cloyes are SUPPOSED to be pre-stretched. I put one in the 400 in 88 and it had no stretch from 88 to now. So it's in the current 400. A 1/2 inch movement is fine.
