I purchased toner for my BROTHER laser printer from a supplier at Amazon.com, the company name was great toners. They show a genuine Brother toner cartridge and say nothing about generic or "compatible" products, so I ordered 2 cartridges. What I received was 2 refilled generic toner cartridges.

I don't know if any of you are familiar with generic toners but I can tell you that they do not work like they should, they will make your printer a mess. I spent 17 years in the photocopier industry and these generic toners have been a problem since day one. The sellers do their best to mask the fact that they are selling inferior products and they also do their best to make you believe that you are getting the genuine product.

Whatever printer you own, make sure that you are getting OEM supplies for it. The cost savings of generic toners are not worth the trouble they create.

When I informed great toners of the problem they sent this reply.

Dear customer,
There might be mistake between shipping or advertisement.
Attached please find the prepaid ups return label. Please ship the item back to us using the label and kindly let us know via email after you ship it out.
We will keep an eye on the return and issue you the full refund once we receive the return.
Thanks!

Great Toners

Apparently great toners does not carry genuine BROTHER toner like they advertise. Can you say "BAIT AND SWITCH" ? :harhar:

I THINK printer cartridges are WAY OVERPRICED, either 5 bux each max....or forgetaboutit.....I just cut my printing way down.....wife can't....her new last Jan friggin HP printer/fax/scanner wiz bang POS is just that about 1/2 assed works and then the ink crap ass ity of the cartridge is less than 1/2 what it once was.....

IMO, I thinking of modding a cart for a plastic hose out the top, remove the cover, and stick a old IV bottle up there....run out NOW....

I have an HP Laser Jet 4M, built it Japan in 1993. Cartridge is $50., but lasts about 7 years, or 10,000 copies. Just cleaned it last week, new generic cartridge, and runs good as new. Inkjet printers. I toss them every 3 years and get a new one. The cartridges are maddening.

I recommend Laser Monks for printer cartridges.

If I remember correctly, they offer both name brand and refill cartridges. I've not had any issues with their refills. They give good service.

Thanks for your replies and recommendations.

Gene - get rid of the bubble jet printers if you do not need color. The cost of supplies on a bubble jet will eat you alive. If printing black and white a laser is the most cost effective way to go, also the ink does not run if it gets wet.
