I have a few in mind, like the Grand Canyon.....but surely there are many others natural, and man made....

I have never traveled much of the world, so curious what are the truly LARGE/IMPRESSIVE sites you all remember ....the ones that you just sat there and shit bricks over....

and I don't mean landmarks, necessarily...Pix would help, but maybe a description??

I saw a dual waterfall in Hawaii that was pretty incredible. I also saw the waterslide /waterfall that was in the old movie South Pacific that the actors slide down and shot out into a big pool.

Flew over the Grand Canyon once....awesome sight from the air.

Took a train to the summit of Pikes Peak when I was a kid. I remember the train going through the clouds...the top of the clouds looked like soft white pillows.....it was darn cold up there for June.

I was not impressed with the Grand Canyon, just a big hole in the soil. But if you like landscape scenery these 3 are hard to beat imho.

Bryce National Park

Zion National Park

And my favorite of the 3, Arches National Park

I thought the grand canyon was about the most awesome thing I've ever seen.

Somehow we managed to completely miss national part :) (took the wrong exit somewhere LOL)

I used to live just about 60 miles from St. Helens. Pretty neat. Of course, I lived there long after the eruption so the only thing I have to compare it to are the surrounding mountains.
But in the same area, while maybe not necessarily a natural wonder, Multnomah (sp?) Falls is pretty damned impressive.
Also, one of the things I hope to see in person before I die is Angel Falls in Venesuela. The largest waterfall in the world, over 1/2 a mile tall.

I've been to some pretty cool places. I took my son to Cairo in 07 and took a pic of him on one of the pyramids.

Then I took several pics and spliced them together so you could get an idea of size.

Egypt and the pyramids is on my list "to be visited" ... . Too many things too see and only a lifetime to do all this stuff....

Oh well.... one day...

the Pyramids.... one of the daily "motivation" pictures comes to mind... "you can achieve anything if you have vision, determination and an endless supply of disposable labor..."

I find it very difficult to fathom HOW and WHY any primitive agrarian society could spare the labor from the farms to be physically able to do that construction, much less, that the occupants of South America did very similar concepts.....then the Noah's ark tales, and similarity of coastlines between the Americas and Europe/Africa....it does make me wonder....especially when flipping the globe and spotting Hawaii on the other side....makes me wonder if a meteor hit there and blew the joint out on the other side, totally changing shit forever....

just a very old thought from grade school yet....:shocking::pprrtt::beer:

Hey Dean, think of you when the news hits on all that political crapola, so you been OK??,

Took a bus tour with the wife and son all around the Siam rep area. It is about a 6 hour bus ride from Bkk.

The political mess is just that a mess. BTW its not Obama's or Bush's fault either.:gurney:

Seriously, you don't know what the temple of Ankor Wat is???

Sorry, NO, I don't, assume it's a religious thing, sure is fancy stone work, shows lots of motivation in it....:shocking:

Ok, I did a google on it....interesting place alright.....

It is the old capital of Kampuchea (Cambodia) dating from the 13th century. There are many old city ruins in Thailand that date back to when Kampuchea ruled much of south east Asia.
There is even a mile square walled Kampuchea city just 50KM from the Burmese border close the the river Kwai bridge that dates back to the 13th century. This river front city has been around more that 2000 years.

Is Siam rep area (Cambodia) there are temple ruins dating back 1000 years.
