Hey everyone:bounce:

I'm a long-time car-crafter that fixes turbine engines in the ARMY for a living. I have had the pleasure of owning a mildly modified '80 stingray in the past, and had to sell it when I was fixing my finances 4 years ago. My money woes are over, and I'm looking to start another C-3 project and finish it this time round. My online searches for ideas have lead me to this forum more than once, and I look forward contributing and sharing afew wild ideas I have plans for.

Welcome to the motley crew of the Flying Dutchmen....

Turbine powered shark.....interesting project....bet that's a flying machine.....

:drink:

Since you guys asked, I run the turbine repair shop for 2-17 CAV at Fort Campbell Airfield. My shop mostly works on 250C/R-3's in Kiowa Warrior helicopters, but my job doesn't tie me down to any paticular army aircraft. If it flies and has a turbine, I take care of it. Used to belong to a unit that does nothing but overhauls, so ripping into a turbine for repair is something my shop handles with ease.

And "turbine powered Mako Shark"? That does sound interesting. To bad it's alot of money for something that isn't very streetable. If anyone on this forum ever does try to shoe-horn a turbine into a vette here, I'll pipe in with tips to make it work:stirpot:

WTF, if Chrysler can do it 50 years ago, a fellow with your talents should have a EASY time of it.....

:stirpot::stirpot::cool::lol:

Of course Leno has a very thick check book.
BTW, I've seen the little allisons converted to power boats, why not cars?

Drivability is why they aren't in cars. Turbines run best at sustained RPM's, car engines change RPM's constantly while they drive. Not a problem for car engines, but a turbine will break down fast doing that. Overheating would be the big issue, they are air cooled after all.

Set up a variable transmission that will let a turbine run the same speed all day long like in a M1 Abrams tank, then we got options:stirpot:
