Can I bend the turn signal stalk without breaking it or is there one that is already bent that I can buy from a vendor? Will a stalk that has an angle in it place too much stress on the turn signal mechanism (it's only plastic) in the column?:sos:

My left knee and the turn signal stalk have been getting too friendly lately. Bending the turn signal stalk upwards or forwards towards the steering wheel would give me more knee room and make it easier to reach the stalk.

YES, I have a '78+ column in my '72, and so I am told it's some 2"? closer to the front, for some reason, anyway, the turn signal wound up on my knee the same way...of course that later column has the dimmer up there too, but no cruise, thankfully....

so the lever was cut shorter and bent, I actually broke the lever trying to bend it closer to the steering wheel, drilled and redid the locating pin, and then rebent the lever the way I wanted....so yes it can be done...

however, the one I had seemed to be some damn hard steel, and so maybe to clamp in a vice and use a torch on it....

even after moving the firewall forward, down lo, and reglassing, moving the pedals forward also...that finally solved my knees on the wheel problem...
