All the body part I'm putting together aren't new, some traveled thousand of miles.
As a result there is a couple of bound that cracked, at extremities of the front lower side panels and on the rear quarter panel at the beginning of the wheel arches.
The panel are still holding strong.
What would you guys do?
So far I see three scenarios :
-Removing the whole panel and redo the bounding
-Grind off the layer of bonding agent between the panel and the bonding strip and then re-inject some.
-Just insert epoxy glue in the crack and clamp it.

What do you guys think?

How many posts can we cross paths on?? strange in that in the 16 years I have owned this car, I came across a black chunk of plastic in my driveway...looked like dark/black chunk of epoxy or something....and so noticed some dragging/crunching sounds from under the car....I hauled maybe 420 lbs of concrete mix in bags on the pass side/floor and seat, scared I broke the body somehow in that mile worth of travel....I take a good solid look, having used the concrete already a day or so earlier....so there is this panel hanging down totally losse on the left front fender behind the wheel....WTF???

seems it was some sort of bonding panel for god knows what, that is/was missing on the right side and all both sides have NOW is one layer of glass on the top....I tossed it, and figger if I blow a tire, oh well....

dunno what/why/where as it was some push 30 years old when I bought it in '95 so who knows.....

the body was pretty well reworked when I got it, so anything is possible...

since the first time I used this 3M 8115/8116 adhesive I am a huge fan of their products, this stuff glues anything to anything.
that stuff is not cheap. prepare all areas that you want to glue and then glue all parts at once, that way you only use one mixing nozzle and you're not wasting glue. everytime you take the mixing nozzle off you waste whatever is left in the nozzle. mixing on cardboard is another option but messy.

hit the areas that you want to bond with 80 grit sandpaper, degrease and apply 8115, it will never come apart.

if the old bond is already starting to come apart it might be best to break the entire bond and start over fresh but if you pry the two pieces apart, apply glue and clamp it should be fine too.... now if the old bond breaks when you pry to apply the glue then it was too weak to begin with....

here are the unbounding problem :

Left fender, the bounding strip is getting loose

Right fender

Front left, the inner fender is unbounding from the outer

pry on those gaps and see if the remaining bond breaks easily, I suspect it comes apart easy.... it might be best to take these pieces apart so you can clean and sand both bonding surfaces.
