I own a 79 Vette Coupe, L-48. When I first got it it was a thrill, no longer so! It requires constant work and babying. Though I'm still very attached, I'm losing patience. I am an airvraft mechanic by trade and now work as an ASI for the FAA. Working on cars is not so much fun anymore, though working on my Vette, beats working on those new contraptions. Anyway, there you have it! I'm trying to find an antenna w/CB for my car, as mine broke. Also having major electrical problems (power windows blow fuses, no horn, etc.), battery drains, engine misses badly, the air conditioning hose is busted, and the vacuuam system has major defects. Anything else you can think off, those are MY problems. Also, wgenever I drive her and go over the slightest bump, she bottoms out. Signing off for now.

Welcome to the motley crew of the Flying Dutchmen.....

and on the car, lack of familiarity is your largest problem, if you fix planes, and can also obviously have some auto experiences, HERE on this forum you will find all the tech help you could ever possible ask for....

find about 2 grand laying loose, and we all can make that car SING in the performance dept.....not a issue, I be very surprised if not....but obviously, that is assuming you do NOT have a rust bucket, hopefully you checked that all out before buying.....

Welcome aboard!

My BB was in similar or maybe worse shape when I got it back in '03. I have put everything back into working order and then some....just the interior to finish. We feel your pain!

welcome :hi:

The battery drain is very simple to fix: get a $10 cutoff switch and be done with it... I gave up searching for the drain and now I just disconnect the battery every time I park the car for more than a few hours....

Lots of info in the tech sections about suspension and the vacuum system... what do you mean "engine misses badly " ? Spark plugs/wires are in good shape ?? Distributor cap/rotor ???

I'm with Karsten on the battery drain. I installed a cut-off switch a little while ago, although I may find the drain once I replace the dash harness. I'm replacing the harness because the original is so "Bubbafied" with cuts and splices everywhere that I thought it would be easier to replace rather than repair. Apart from possibly finding my battery drain, it should solve the intermittent power windows, intermitten power mirrors, flickering or not working lights etc...

Anyway, welcome to VetteMOD :hi:

Where'd you learn your trade? Military?

Thanks for all the help and some of the non-help (I think that's a word, oh well), I appreciate the input. Yeah, I can fix most of the stuff, but don't know if I want to bother. We'll see, winter's coming quick, time to get serious! Thanks again for the "warm" welcome, ya'll.
