What type of headlights would a 'new' 1982 have?

The mods on my project car (82 convertible conversion) are loosely organized around the theme of what a 'new' 1982 shark would look like. I want the car to have the flavor of a modern reboot of the 1982, ala the Challenger, Camaro and Mustangs of today.

I am departing from that a bit with flares, but I am trying to stick to that idea with my body mods.. I am updating the mirrors and convertible deck lid with C5 parts, doing a C6 Z06 style hood scoop, etc.

Obviously, the lights are dated and will need attention. So, if Chevy did a reboot of the 1982 C3 like the Camaro, would it have popup or fixed lights? (I am definitely going with projector hid's in some fashion)

The options are filling in the headlight openings and mounting the lights in the grille:

Doing some sort of fixed light on the surface:

Or going with the Mcspeed electric headlight actuator conversion, moving the riveted bracket to make them only open a few inches and doing the projectors in place of the factory lights..

What do you think would look best and/or true to the idea of what a 'new' 1982 would look like?

The black shark will not pass any headlight height DOT requirements, cops in Maryland will ticket over it....had a neighbor with that type install, he was retired Fireman, so got a break many a time over it, but was hassled a LOT....

it would flunk a Md. safety insp though...but Md. in them daze only check when a car was titled/tagged/bought/brought into the state....not a annual, thank GOD....

I do like the black one better, and would have done my car that way years ago, if not for that factor....

I also like that orange one as a solid viable solution, it's a cleaner install than my mess.....and should meet height req. obviously....
