We all know what the 3.8 buick became and how feared it became. But like the 301T it all started as a draw through design as well. So what if the 301T got a more efficient setup like the grand nationals SEFI intercooled engine.

The draw through 3.8 made what like 160hp back in the 78-81 days? The 301T made what 200-210hp but like 340 ft lbs of torque. I once drove a Trans Am with this engine and it did ok for what it was and back in it's day it was the motor to have compared to other gutless engines of the day.

So what could it have become with blow through turbo, maybe SEFI, better intake, heads, compression, cam, cat converter?

You making my mammory stretch, but wasn't that 301 Pontiac the engine they shaved the cylinger block down thereby opening the casting to the cyl heads??

something like that, and used Pontiac heads on a shorter block, and the thing blew up like the Olds 350 Diesel....or that HT4100 Caddy engine of the early 80s....

fuggetaboutit....

:hissyfit::hissyfit::surrender: and that is coming from a olde tyme Poncho lover....

The 301 Turbo is a slug

The manifold ports are super tiny, you can barely stick your thumb in one. What a POS

I knew it didn't work worth shit, or last very long, but you said MANI ports?? interesting....were the cyl heads a more normal Pontiac casting, and is my mammory correct on that shorter block??
