I was always under the impression that the center bolt valve cover heads were vortex heads. But I really have never had one so ?????

No, center bolts came in 86/87, intake bolt angle changed to 72deg for the center 2 bolts too.... Except on the vette, it always retained the 90deg olt arrangement. The changes were for better gasket sealing..

The vortec heads are a raised runner head, they came in 96. Basically it's the same as an LT1 head, same intake, exhaust and chamber in a normal water jacketed head.

But yet with just redrilling a LT1 intake, I fit it on a L98 engine....

the dizzy mount was the worst of it, the surprise to me was the intake passages lined up....

What motor do you think this is? Advertised to be 400hp.......

Agree with Ozzy. 1986 to 1991 L-98. Judging by the intake, I would be real surprised to see 400hp. Maybe 400ft/lbs of torque, but I really doubt 400hp.

OK L98 so what heads does that motor have?

I have had 3 sets of heads on my basic L98 truck roller block, 993 iron, Edel, and now #113 stock aluminum.....which have outlasted and been more trouble free than all the others combined....knock on wood....

impossible to tell from that pic what heads it has. Runners look stock but may be TPIS.
