The holley base plate is made from cast crap I tell you, it was not overtightened, the manifold is straight as an arrow, gasket was good...it was good for some time but last month the car would hardly idle and this was the cause......time for a billet base
the engine is FUBAR, piston is cocked in the bore and there's a big U shaped crack in the bore. The car was running fine till it went to the paint shop, came back with a slight miss that got worse and worse, radiator was half full and when I pulled the plugs no 6 had coolant pouring out...now the guys at the paint shop claim not to have messed with the car but something tells me they gunned it cold, piston cocked and cracked the block. there's a boatload of metal in the oil too, feels gritty....this one is toast, time for a 383 or bigger
Just pull the rod & piston, slap the head back on and run it as a V-7 ... Should be fine for another 100k like that.

No you pull the rod and JB weld the piston back in the cylinder so it doesn't use oil. You also need to JB weld the coolant leak.
Just add a qt of head gasket repair and a qt of block sealer TO THE OIL......
it'll be fine :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

Maybe it was dropped on that corner before you got it or a wire accidentally made its way under the base and then tightened. The wire under the base is what I generally find when I see a broken base plate.The holley base plate is made from cast crap I tell you, it was not overtightened, the manifold is straight as an arrow, gasket was good
