When I used to live in Australia, driving to work meant a 9 mile drive over a desert road to the work site. Since the road was mostly deserted, speeds of 120 kmph or so were common. Over a several day period, several people told stories about encounters with an eagle. What the eagle liked to do was dive an an oncoming car, level out and glide right towards the windshield of the oncoming car. The bow wave of air over the front of the car, and the windshield, would, at the last instant, loft the eagle harmlessly over the roof of the car. Needless to say, seeing a big bird with a probably close to a 4 foot wing span coming directly at your windshield was pretty exciting. It's stories like this that can make you think that birds are a lot smarter than you'd think.

Driving down 35th Avenue today, 4 lanes, 35 MPH, I saw a crow dive off a telephone pole straight down to the street where he pulled up at about 3 feet off the ground. He zoomed right across the street through the traffic, banking this way and that between the cars. When he got to the other side he pulled up and settled on the knoll, turned around and looked back at the street. I could almost hear him laughing and yelling "WOOO HOOO!! YEAH!!!"

I laughed for a couple blocks, thinking "Right on, little mofo! Good rush!"

Driving down 35th Avenue today, 4 lanes, 35 MPH, I saw a crow dive off a telephone pole straight down to the street where he pulled up at about 3 feet off the ground. He zoomed right across the street through the traffic, banking this way and that between the cars. When he got to the other side he pulled up and settled on the knoll, turned around and looked back at the street. I could almost hear him laughing and yelling "WOOO HOOO!! YEAH!!!"

I laughed for a couple blocks, thinking "Right on, little mofo! Good rush!"

Wife has Hummingbird feeders out back, as well as some flower gardens type pretty stuffs......and so she loves to photo the hummers as they fly around upside down under Firecracker plants, under the dishes, and dive bomb each other....2-3 of them flipping each other off while feeding,

MAN, I"d love to fly like that, talk about a BLAST!@!!!!
