this is a follow up to my last thread but the theme is the same. screw a "living wage" some people are stupid and they should get paid a stupid wage.
case in point. i'm working on my little datsun Z project car this weekend and i installed an adjustable regulator. the return line i have is too short to reach the regulator return so i go to the local parts house with the hose in hand. i hand over the existing hose and tell doofus i need this size hose but 1 foot longer. off he goes. he come back and hands me my original hose and a new piece of hose that's 6" shorter than what i gave him. :huh: so i explain again, i need the new piece of hose to be ONE FOOT LONGER than the piece i gave him. off he goes, comes back and hands me the new piece. it's 6" longer than my original.
"o.k. dude, thanks a lot."
so i go to the manager and i don't get mean, hell there's no sense in it. like ron white says, you can't fix stupid. i explain that i need the new hose 1 foot longer and she goes back and cuts it for me. now everything is fine, but i still feel a bit taken that 1/4 fuel line is $1.30+ per foot.

I agree, I try my luck for an oil filter, ask the guy, need an oil filter for a chevrolet small block....guy says...that's for the matiz right......I say, no a real chevrolet, not the rebadged asian crap, I tell him, it's for the 5.7 liter engine and he asks me that' big. why is it called small block......I knew then was the time to leave

TT, that's gotta suck. hell, anybody with a set of combination wrenches is probably tripping over one or two spare blocks here in the states! sounds like it's time to just order a big, old box full of them for the next decade or two.

:gurney::confused: LIving in the land of the Lilliputians, one only need be 5' tall to be a giant....

:zzz::drink:

Land of lilliputians? Here? Dutch people are among the tallest in the world.

Interesting....I would think the cars would be larger, as most cars from overseas I can't drive comfy for very long...I even had to mod the vette after a few years....so I assumed people must be shorter on average....

A lot of these european cars have more interior room than most US cars, econo/shitboxes not included of course. A C3 is pretty cramped, a C4 too.

I have to agree with that one. Every rental car I've had in England, Ireland or Germany has had way more room that the rental cars in the US. And the company always rents compacts. The only exception was the Benz 280 SEL. Everytime I got out of that one my foot hooked the hood latch and opened the hood.

That's cause we moved the table toward me about 6" last night.....:gurney::o

I remember some years ago, a client/customer/friend had a Merc of some type, we drove around all over hell as he was looking for a cooktop for the kitchen redo, he wanted some features as he was a amateur chef, Italian background, so VERY serious about it.....so we spent about a day in and outta that car.....I thought it was about the most miserable car in the world as a passenger....seats sat like a park bench, very hard and uncomfy....interior WAY too small for me, nothing like any Caddy, on either score....

So outta curiosity I sat in many a import and especially Merc at a car show soon after....and found most all of them to be cramped and with piss poor seating.....so that is another reason I not interested in any newer cars....

my '87 vette was miserable that way also...seats WAY too narrow....hated them side bolsters on bottom.....

Last damn decent size car made would be a '79 Sedan DeVille/Fleetwood, and those are small, compared to the '70- '75 Convertibles....:gurney::drink:
