I've had a crack in the top, passenger side of my front windshield ever since I got this car. It was about 3" long and wasn't getting any longer. A few weeks ago, I discovered a DIY crack repair kit on the net so decided to give it a go. It arrived a couple of weeks ago and I haven't got around to doing it yet. I had a look at the crack again on the weekend with the intention of doing it but realised I needed to remove the top screen trim. I didn't bother with it then but as I'm on late shift this week, thought I would do it one morning.

I went out this mornig and the bastard crack has grown and branched out!!! I haven't driven the damn car, haven't leant on the glass - nothing.

The fucking car's possessed. I don't think it's even worth trying to fix now and I've never seen a professional glass repairer out here. So, time for a new one I guess. of course, no one sells them out here either so it's gonna have to be an import job! What are the chances of a windshield making it here in one piece?

Has anyone shipped a screen long distance before? If so, who did you buy it from? What was their packaging like?

:crutches:

You have quite the dilemma there Wayne. Having a new windshield sent to you will probably cost a small fortune :surrender:

I would be surprised if the windshield makes it there in one piece....

Are you planning on driving the Vette over there ? It's probably less painful if you wait until you're back home - assuming you can get the windshield in Australia.

Mine was like $250 plus install if I remember correctly, I bought from Glassamerica (http://www.glassusa.com/)

no idea if they can ship to Saudi but worth asking ...

Yep, it's a quandry alright - bloody expensive one too! I've got two quotes back so far - one for $1600 (just for shipping) :ill:
And another for $550, which isn't too bad at the moment seeing as the South Sea Island Peso (Aussie dollar) is so strong against the US dollar.
I've also got a mate out here asking some of his mates in Bahrain about the possibility of using a military PO box.

I need to replace it though as it would fail inspection out here and yes Karsten, I will drive it out here (read DESPERATE to drive the damn thing!!!)

Got a card from a guy in Minnesota that sells them for 140 bucks and the shipping to Florida is 125.00

I'll see if I haven't lost it.
