When I went borrowing 1Michel engine hoist (merci encore Michel), we talked about his project, and he mentioned he was planning installing a newer wiper motor.
Now that I'm removing/reinstalling it, I'm realizing why he do want to do so.
This motor is a true behemoth, heavy as hell.
Searched the forum with no luck, so I'm asking.
From which car could I pick the most straightforward replacement motor?

Years ago in junkyards I noticed some GM cars with smaller wiper motors, that certainly have to be lighter weight, and same basic mounting points, and similar output shaft/mounting.....

but back then I had the '72 operating door with that dedicated wiring, so couldn't use one.....

lost track of the cars.....vague recollection is something outta the 80's up....

but they DO exist...yes.....

U greenie hippy.....

Yeah, that wiper motor is about the same size as a Toyota starter motor. Anyone find a modern replacement for this behemoth?

I talked with Michel about this, he was planning to put some truck wiper motors, and he for sure knows about trucks.

Mike, A C4 motor is a fraction of the size and weight of a C3. Whats the one in your 84 look like?

I looked at the starter from a Peterbilt because each time I opened the hood of my truck, there it was LOL.

Also from experience I do know that they last, I used them a lot.

It's much smaller than the thing we have in our cars for sure.

Anybody could get one at a dealer from Kenworth or Peterbilt.

I have a Peterbilt and a Kenworth dealer near me ,
I'll get the part number this week of the one I plan to use so if you guys want to take a look at it, just find a dealer , they always have some in stock.

Heres how to find a dealer near you

Peterbilt ... http://www.peterbilt.com/findadealer.aspx
Kenworth.... http://www.kenworth.com/3100_sea.asp

But you know what? Like BBshark said, a good wiper motor from any GM or Ford car would do the trick, any brand for that matter.

Anything will be much smaller.

I'll take a look as soon as I can. We're in the middle of moving right now and both cars are already moved out of state. As soon as I get this last load moved (just my tools, welders and spare parts in the garage) I'll let you know what I find.

The wife wants to get back closer to her parents in KCMO, so I've been hauling stuff north recently. Burning up a bunch of my life just driving the interstates lately.
