Wipers Direct Switch Replacement Help 82

On the '82, I have replaced several of the components on the wiper control module per some instructions I found somewhere. Still no luck preventing continuous operation until the circuit board is unplugged. So, planning to just throw that crap away and just wire in a direct switch for wipers. Has anyone done this? Best to just use relay in back of car? Can I use existing dash switch to do this? Just looking for the one slow speed control, on and off. Any tricks. I am assuming this should not be a big deal, and that scares me! Otherwise I am assuming I can just add a remote relay under hood to start and stop motor, add a switch under dash. Hate rigging stuff up like that, but, what ever it takes.

Thanks in advance.

If the wipers continue to wipe there's a problem with teh wiper control box or there's a loose connector on the motor. Try and see if using the mist setting will stop the wipers.

Hey TT,

No doubt, still an issue with control module. I was not able to replace all parts. I have found if I time it just right, in the mist mode, catch the wipers on the down stroke, push the control down one time, they do stop in down position. Flippin hoot eh!

I am hoping to take control unit out of setup yet use existing switch to just start and stop wipers in slow mode only. May wind up being a winter project.

thanks

If it stops on the mist setting it's either the wiring or the control box. The pink wire is the suspect here
