Y ME, and what is the probability.....

Both Wife and me had our computers hooked through ethernet, to the ATT modem, and the wireless on it ran off her laptop .....no sweat, been that way for some months now, had other issues crop up....but her work computer was turned off TOTALY, as in power switch due to some storms this morning, I had my machine on and running....when the thunder came louder, I turned MY computer off also.....

turn back on and neither machine as internet....BUT the lap top does, it's wireless, so the ATT guys comes out and swaps the modem, same shit, so we try other cables...nothing...we try her laptop with a ethernet cable instead of wireless, it worked fine.....modem ok....

NOW the ATT guy has me on a wireless adapter and so I had one already for the wife's machine....

both are fine.....

SO, both of our desktop machines have blown the ethernet cards at the same instant....the probability factor alone is about 20 billion to one???


Y ME LORD??? all the off the wall shit happens to me....WTF??

I run everything thru a surge protector. I found out that if I just plugged the computer straight in the wall, the power supply would be dead in less than 6 months. And the LAN cables all run from the modem to a router, and then to the desktop cable runs into that same surge box and then to the computer.

Tim, I have a surge protector, running into a 1-1 ratio isolation transformer, then another surge protector strip to the electronics....the ethernet cable from Linda's machine is about 3' from the modem, in the back office...my machine is in the L/R and so the cable runs along the slab and under the rug to my machine....can't figger it....:bonkers::crap:

but we are both Wi Fi now....
