My brother had a Jav. If I remember right(back in the 70's), it was a lime green color with a stripe down the middle???....anyway, he beat the livin hell outta that car until he totaled it.

There was a guy that used to come into Burger King in Glenview, IL all the time with a Mark Donohue Javelin. We razzed him mercilessly, yelling "Hey Mark, how's your RAMBLER" and all kinds of insults. Turned out the car was actually pretty quick at the strip. So we let off on the razzing after seeing it for ourselves. But we still couldn't hang out with him. We were all Ford men, and it WAS a RAMBLER

Maybe I felt that way when I first got it back home but now my vette is going to Sebring. The paint is about the cheapest investment I have in the car and I want to see what it can do.

Meteor, Glasspar, Lancer, Grantham, Victress, LaDawri, Byers, Devin, and others produced beautiful fiberglass bodies and cars. The fiberglass "Specials" built during this era of racing, hot rodding and cruising faded silently into obscurity as mass produced muscle cars quickly overshadowed them.

My step-dad went thru a good number of the Studebakers- Hawks, Golden Hawks= even had a Studie pickup with a -get this- a MANUAL winch wrecker- hook it up and turn the crank.

Wasn't the Cheetah glass? I think the Cobra Daytona Coupe was.

I think it was called a Bricklin. But it wasn't really made by AMC. Just had an AMC engine.

They also had a two-seater called an AMX. But that was made of metal.

AMC also introduced the Super Stock AMX. To maximize quarter-mile performance the 390 engine was equipped with twin Holley carburetors and 12.3:1 compression-ratio cylinder heads, plus aftermarket Doug's headers and exhaust system. Hurst Performance carried out several additional modifications.

AMC rated the car at 340 horsepower, but the National Hot Rod Association ultimately rated it at 420 horsepower and shuffled it among various competition classes: SS/G, SS/D, and SS/C. Its best recorded quarter-mile was 10.73 seconds at 128 mph.

The car could be ordered painted all white, or in the vertical bands of red, white, and blue that distinguished numerous AMC competition cars of the day. Base price was $5,994, some $1,900 more than a fully loaded regular 1969 AMX. There was no factory warranty.

Years ago, a buddy who was a upper lever executive in the Moon church (searious) had a AMX drove it to work every day.....had a farm out in W. Va. drove to McLean/Arlington type area every day.....Moon had this office building right next door to...get this......MARS the candy company....another serious fact......Moon and MARS next door to each other.....tell me there ain't a God laughing his/her ass off somewhere, you just can't make this shit up.....no way....

IIRC my dad had a 67 chevlle and I think another around the same year 71 vette painted baldwin motion style, el camino, and a 66 vette, he still has it to this day
