A '69 came to the shop yesterday with noise from L/R wheel. The inner wheel bearing was running loose on the spindle (no press fit) and the spindle nut was stripped so that the only thing holding the wheel on the car was the caliper bracket. The nut was off and just rolling around in the flange! Then we found the McGuyver parking brake work. Funny thing is there was NO parking brake hardware whatsoever in the L/R assembly!

I am working on a friends 69 that his pop gave him. I'll post a picture soon.
How about 3" of washers on the spring bolts, and air shocks, to enable O/S tires?
You gotta see this. It's the shizzle. :twitch::smash::smash::smash:

Luckily they gave up before really messing this car up beyond repair. It had blown head gaskets when I bought it which probably saved the car from more bubba-mods since they couldn't drive it anymore!

It is making a recovery though and will be back in nice shape eventually!

I don't have pictures of it, but when I was in college, the battery tray in my car was made out of plywood with a strap holding it in. Yes, I'll admit, I did it. Hey, I was poor!

more pics...

Gotta love your kid to use a Pep-Boys strap...Love the steering wheel out of grandmas Impala...nice horn, too. Gotta have a hole in the muffler to be truly Bubba. Get this: this '69 is #350...first or second day production in '69.

This was the rag joint in my Vette when I first bought it

joint.jpg

In FACT I have looked at that many times, and wondered WTF is about those rag joints...but left it up to the design guys, and I have had many of them apart over the years, and bolted back together with new rubber inserts or whatever....putting secure bolts on again....

I have to assume it's a vibration damper to prevent metal fatigue??

which is why I have one in the intermediate shaft of my car now, even with the rack steering...
