Hooker Side Pipes

did not have to cut or modify anything on my 76 only thing i have to complain about is with the large primary tubes it is next to impossible to get all your header bolts in:bullshit:

Get the 12pt bolts, these have a smaller head ... I still had to modify my wrench though ...

thats what i got. i dont know if something was made wrong with mine but that was a real big issue on installation.

Hey Guys thanks for all the great input.
I should be installing the headers soon as the paint is buffed out.

I will post pictures.

Vet is buffed out and looks great.
Just need to finish painting T-Tops, install sidepies and align front and rear wheels.

Before going with sidepipes the previous owner of my Vet had Hooker Headers with 3 or 3 1/2'" collectors going into 2"stock exhaust.
Plenty of back pressure through all 4 gears.
I am hoping the new sidepipes will let the Vet run much better.

Stay tuned,
4 SPEED

Heres a couple of pictures I took with my phone.
Not the best but it gives you an idea of what she will look like.
All that is left to do is finish painting the T-TOPS.

i agree, beautiful car

can't wait to get it on the road for some sound/performance testing, huh ???

Thanks Guys, should look a lot better when it's all cleaned up and ready to roll.
I am hoping the loss of backpressure will make a big difference in performance and with the 3:36 gears it should ba a good cruiser.

I was shocked to see how fast the headers at the heads started to turn colors.
I thought SS would not change so fast.

Anyway, thanks for all the good advice.

my headers turned blue(ish) as well.... when my sidepipes were new I cleaned the pipes with chrome polish, it removes most of the discoloration but after a while I got lazy.....

discoloration is easy to remove from stainless.... electric (low voltage, like 12v) and boric acid (heats the acid and the acid removes the color). Be sure to rise all the acid off the pipes or it'll etch the pipes. They also make weld erasers that can do the same thing, but the amount of elbow grease it'd take to do that would be astounding. Also, a simple polish wheel and green polish works.
