20K Commercial Drones by 2020

I just hope the first time one crashes into a crowd, they regulate them out of existence.

Man, you are bullshit mad.

It's funny how the far left can sound just like the far right. The nutjob neocons are saying the same thing on CF.

I think they should use these things first to terrorize the illegals on the border, then the Mexican moffia in the national parks, then on US citizens. They are supposedly using these to catch ranchers illegally dumping into rivers. That's a damn good thing. Large land owners think they can do anything they want.

C'mon Turtle, you can't be that naive.

I've had my own run-ins with farmer/rancher land owner types. Some of these big ranches were "procured" by some great great great grandfather who killed people for the land. The attitude runs deep. They'll shoot protected species, dump, burn, poison, shoot people on sight, etc etc etc because they think they're god on their land.

These nutjobs will indimidate/shoot any government official trying to access their land for inspections.

How else do we deal with people like this? F-em.

I don't have a problem with them being used to fight crime. Maybe help the California types stop the drug trade. I saw on the news that the trafficers are now using Mexican cheepie speedboats to go around the boarder and land along the pacific coast.

Wow, who is the raving lunatic

The main problem, as I see it, is the fact that the drones will most likely NOT be used to combat illegal immigration across the border with Mexico, but used to watch what the rest of us are doing. One small town in Kansas (population about 3500) is getting 2 (two) drones all paid for by a federal grant. WHy do they need them when the southern border is more of a saying than a fact? The EPA is talking about using them to watch cattle ranchers in Nebraska, to make sure they're using the land correctly. Read up on U.N. Agenda 21. IF one of the alphabet groups, (EPA, USDA) decides you're not using YOUR PRIVATLY OWNED property as they deem to be it's best use, under Agenda 21 they can seize it.

What gets me is the whole idea of being tracked, followed, traced and or spied upon. We are already victims, each time we don't use cash and instead use a credit card, debit card or any other form of plastic money we are tracked and categorized. Your cell phone can be used for or against you as far as identifying where the phone is at a given time, thus giving your location to the powers that be. Now add to this your e-mail accounts, smart phone/internet access, Satellite technology and Drones and you have a total control mentality from the .gov....:censored:

Like I just said, too much damned .gov control.

P.S. - I posted this over on the V8Buick.com board yesterday, the responses were very similar to ours, then today I looked and the post is gone...... too political I guess.

Speaking of using them for combating drugs, does anyone really believe we are doing any good fighting drugs? We spend billions, give money to foreign countries to get them to fight drug production. Drugs have been illegal about as long as the USA has had an income tax, 100 years. Both have been a great downfall of our individual rights. Prohibition of alcohol didn't work, why have we not given up on the other drugs. Let the dopers ruin thier lives, just don't give them any welfare.

It's like hookers. Old as the hills, and a victimless crime at that. I believe it to be a giant waste of time and resources.
It just clogs up the entire legal system from 911 calls, to police, to courts, and prisons.

I saw another article about the drones- they're talking about arming them with tear gas and rubber bullets too.
So much for setting in your hot tub nekkid. Get arrested for indecent exposure.

Local sheriff here has been using helos here for some 20 years, gets annoying, flying in circles with the search lite on for hours and hours or until out of fuel.
I've been hit a few times with the light when I'm in the spa, I moon them every chance I get. :waxer:
They also have a couple planes.

The DEA has been flying observation and chase helicopters and planes here in S Florida for over 20 years too, daily, weather permitting.
A few years ago, while working in someones backyard, I just happened to look up and there was an all flat black helicopter moving really slowly at about 1500ft. Made no noise at all. :amazed: A helmet was looking out the side door down at me.
BTW, our county is #1 in the nation for pill mills.

A local city here upon the recommendation of the FBI, installed some sonic system crap to instantly detect and locate gunfire. Last I heard, after a couple of years, they abandoned it.

After watching NatGeo and reading different stuff, I'm amazed we can't do better in Afghanistan with all this high tech. Almost makes one believe that it's just laboratory stuff and real world fluff.

And as far as the microwave gun, I thought we already had them in the Pacific.

Tim,
You can bet UAV's will be an integral part of the future of boarder control. They have been in the past and most certainly will be in this future acquisition program.

Well, looking at this from the other side, if nazis can take over Germany then come a hair's breadth away from conquering the whole world, anything is possible. It's good to have people questioning these things. I wonder how the founding fathers would feel about it?

As Marck said before, no good can come from discussing pollitics on a car site.

Questioning is one thing. Going completely around the bend isn't productive, it just makes people roll their eyes. :surrender:
