I see shit that goes back that far, and that RARE, I think of a old friend who stole Corvettes, it turned out, and dealt in rare/hard to find Corvette parts...had a whole basement full of shit, from the old Rochester FI units through most all of it.....

long story, but he died in prison....about 25 years ago....

I didn't read obviously. Has me worried that it's a repop

I think it's probably an import and definitely a repo. I don't care that it's not original. I'm just not sure something made in China or wherever is a quality build.

They are selling these manifolds at a few locations. Here's another one:

I contacted the above place and they confirmed it's an import.

Okay, just heard from David Crane of Crane Corvettes (the E-Bay seller):

it is imported

So I will e-mail back to him and ask him if there have been any problems with the manifold as far as fitment and everything being flat and true. If not, I will probably grab it.

Right now motor looks like the 454/425HP crate engine Chevy sells. Had to buy a manifold because the one that comes with it is a hi-rise. Won't clear the hood.

<sigh> my dreams of a 302 Z/28 engine have evaporated.

you know i dont have anything against repros, or the people making them in foreign lands but when they cant even have the decency to take the GM stamp out of the casting that kind of irks me....and it probably is both a license violation and piracy violation. oh well its a global economy

That manifold looks exactly like the one I'm using on Ol' Red. Drop base air cleaner and a little bit of a bump in the hood and it's fine.

Depends. If it's a licensed repop, then it's okay. Doc would know more than I.In my model T world, it's a necessity for "authentic" restoration, so it's a given.

The lt1 and big block hood provides little to no extra clearance. I have a nice drop base air cleaner setup I ran on my L71 when I ran an L88 intake if you need one.

Personally, I couldn't care less if it has all the original stamps and marks or not. I just wanted something I could cram under the hood without the Holly poking a hole in things.:smash:

I will let the lawyers from Gubment Motors worry about copyright violations. But I think they have bigger worries with an electric car that's a rolling fireball and a bigger dud than the Edsel. BTW...I wish I had a 1958 Edsel Ranger.

Do a search on William Dean Christiansen (on?) he was into Corvettes in the mid 60's when I had my '60 vette, we got reacquainted at the Chevy parts dept, he was into Edsels....had a whole damn bunch of them scattered all over his folks' yard :bonkers: the guy had lots of other odd things about him too....:shocking:
