The impending GM declaration is much more important to this country than ANY OTHER BK declared so far.....GM has REAL assets, even if you neglect that intangible 'goodwill' discussed in B school.....

I feel VERY sorry for the future of the Corvette, as unfortunately I feel it's a dead horse with these nitwits in the .gov running the show now....

:crap::goodnight::hissyfit:

Somebody bang on the jukebox, its time to skip this part. I've already been through the '70s.

I don't think so Gene. The Corvette makes money. I believe the line will stay on board.

If you only knew half the time what your talking about, you wouldn't be such a pain in the A@@.

Now tell us , you "" were"" a consulting Engr for Gm, You must have been a bathroom door agent! Ah yes listen to all the sheit house lawyers!!!!

Make sure all this sheit does not get personal.

GM and bankruptcy ?? They killed Pontiac and rumor is that Saturn and Hummer is next... Saab to be sold.... ok, I don't care about Hummer but Pontiac ??? The Solstice was a great success and the G6 sold pretty darn good, at least you can see these cars everywhere, must be somebody buying them.....:clobbered:

I remember a comment a few years back when one of these GM managers talked about the death of the Camaro/Firebird and he said there simply was no market for muscle cars with a V8... that was around 2005/2006 when Ford sold all these new Mustangs.... idiots in charge...

Killing brands and closing dealers is the governments idea of making GM more like Toyota's business model. But then Toyota lost 8 billion dollars in the first quarter (worse than GM). Whoops, I guess that was a bad idea

The Corvette is a break even proposition in good times and a loss at present sales numbers. Every Corvette sold counts against CAFE standards. GM has to sell 1 or 2 small cars to offset the CAFE impact of a Corvette. What until the CAFE standards go to 39 MPG.

Either way, look for gas to go to $4-5/gal so that people will buy the governments new vehicles.

Yup, the sheeple will react as trained....ME/wife, NO, not falling for that BS again...did it in the 70's....learned then ain't forgot yet.....

My attitude is, when I can't jack the cars up and FIX them, I"m too old to drive anyway, time to settle up accounts.....

:shocking::p

I agree here, building a fan base slowly huh Gene?
keep it up I like to read your opinions. lol

Ok, back to the bankruptcy,
Since the whole operation is to clean GM up, I think they will take everything that sells and kill what should of been killed long ago.

Saab and Hummer, dont care either, Pontiac, well maybe the brand will die but could they make the Solstice or G6 and make them Chevrolet instead of Pontiac?
Or any cars that sells for that matter.
As long theres a Mustang I would think that Camaro is still a viable option.
Corvette, not sure about that tho. who's the competition? Viper?

nope, folks, GENE is right on this one. GM is pretty much done. as someone else mentioned, the corvette counts against their CAFE. tack on to that now environuts are going to be meddling in the design and product offerings and GM is effectively dead.
never forget that something as logical is 'making a product people want to buy' and 'profit margin' are concepts that .gov can't comprehend. their idea of manufacturing is "if it's not selling, it just because there aren't enough out there so just make even more."
you and i, through the coersion of .gov, will continue to funnel money into this company that will now start building "green cars" we don't want and the technology can't support.
the only way it can be *successful* is if .gov outlaws the old dirty technology and forces the populous into cars they don't want.

Clutch, you must have had some .gov dealings in the past, you dun figgered it out ok.....all the rest methinks are delusional I DO hope they are right, but when dealing with the mind set of a Naderite/Green Weenie it is very difficult to use logic to overcome their upset over nothing....I see a VERY large threat to our entire lifestyle, and I fear my kids will be smelling the ass end of a mule to eat, some day.....

IF for no other reason than transportation will be SO expensive no indivudual can afford it....which is the very reasons the commie bastards in the .gov WANT.....

I seen this crap coming from back in my daze in B school Univ/Md.....when the likes of my 'Comparative Econ' prof. was allowed to teach....and that was normal, I came to find out.....

Yup, Harvard/et al....all the way....bunch of idiots.....

:crap:

We want a country with a government not a government with a country.

Did GM ever build a car that I like? Oooohh s&*t, corvette is GM ;-).

We had the same s&*t over here they safe the Banks and insurance companies and let everything else drown. Aircraft manufacturer Fokker went down in the eighties with 116 orders!!

I think they let it drown because that helps to achieve the emissions goals.

Less factory plants = less emissions.

I don't think so Gene. The Corvette makes money. I believe the line will stay on board.

See, there's the problem, the GOVERNMENT does not care about what makes money. If that were the case, the Chrysler dealerships that were allowed to stay open would not have been DEMOCRAT donors.

Your assumption is the government will do what is financially right over what is politically correct. You are wrong.

I have this really bad feeling you are correct Gene. So the next new car from GM will be called the "Obama Correct". 20 hp and 80 miles to the gallon and only comes in one color........green.:rain::bump:

I'd be willing to say that China is going to walk off with a good chunk of GM. They're already buying everything they can get their hands on. The .gov has 60% of GM, the unions have a xx%, China will have the 60% the .gov has- simply because they can. and once the Chinese have it, the CAFE standards and all that won't apply anymore because the greenies will not hold them accountable- just like they don't now-

They might already own the 60% the US government owns. The Chinese lent the US government the money for the purchase.

It's funny (sad really) that the government says they won't run GM. I guess telling them what kind of cars to build, firing people, "placing" government employees on the board and closing dealerships (Presidents Automotive Task Force contribution) are not considered running the show.

I really wonder when we will get tired of being lied to.

The sheeple don't care, haven't for decades, just give them the checks and they go buy another bottle/bag whatever....maybe some of them would work, if we didn't export all our jobs.....

Did you guy's see the documentary IOUSA?

That was made before the financial crisis. I wonder what the US debt is at this moment, can someone read that debt counter for me ;-). Your government is slowly turning the USA into a third world country, before you know it you have to carry your water from kMart ;-)
