A while back I ended up in a wrecking yard in the Mojave desert (long story). The owner showed me this old Studebaker salt flat car sitting in a dark corner. It still had its blown hemi and a C3 shaped nose (70-71). There was a plaque on the dash that said it went 270-something in 1976. Well, after some research, I found a picture of the car "back in the day". It went 271+ average both ways and had a one-way pass near 290 mph. Holy sh.....
