Why would you want to do that?

Two reasons. The heat cycles may have weakened the bolt, and the threads are probably trashed now.

My question was in reply to the point

I'd like to find grade 8 stainless steel. I'm sure they are out there but probably expensive.

Hence my suggestion to use a standard correct quality/grade bolt.
Of course a new one.

how about a gr-8 bolt with a bit of anti-seize on it?

Or better yet a little bit of thread locker to seal everything up.

hmmm... i hope i read this correctly and he wants to use the original quality bolt, not the original bolt .... Grade8 from the hardware store will be more than sufficient...
