Check out my new 19" wheels

Thanks for the link .... its gonna be some work getting those tires stuffed under the car but ... it will look so good when its done ... and if i have to widen the fenders ... thats not a bad thing .. i guess that just means i will have to get used to the smell of laquer thinner :pprrtt:

I got my axles from Gary ... i will bring them by next time ... these things are massive ...

It was only $5000 USD to have them made ... i started getting quotes that were any where from 15000 to 6000 then i found NC forged and they gave me a good price ... i started these in the spring and it took till now to get them .... was alot of work and time looking at pictures and CAD drawings ... but it was worth it in the end .... I don't know what they would want to make anouther set .... there was alot of trial and error to get mine the way they look now.

Those are very sweet. I like a lot. I don't have that kind of money for Corvette wheels, but I got a kidney I'm not using. Tell your supplier he prolly could sell lots. No adapters needed right? Trimming the frame isn't hard, especially if you know what you are doing, like I didn't.

i am so lucky that there are guys like you Bee Jay .... that have gone through the trouble to trim the frame ... your thread was very helpful and with pictures from norval ... i am sure it will be a snap ... have welder will travel .. and you no adapters or spacers .... do you use a 6 link on your vette Bee Jay?

Thanks. No six link, just offset trailing arms and a modified rear sway bar and sway bar mount. I autocrossed it recently and the fat rear tires are great equalizers. Can you post the pictures from Norval?

With trail and error the first set is definitely the expensive one.... are they interested in making these in different sizes like 8X17 and 9.5X17 for C3s without flares ?? A good size for my '79 with the 2" flares is 8x18 front and 10x10 rear. ;)

Very cool set of rims. I always wanted to do that. I even got a quote from Mike Curtis and thought it was very reasonable, just need a new C3 project to put them on.

Will you be able to use the stock center caps to complete the stock look?

I will have to talk to norval to see if it is ok if i post his pictures ... he is kinda hard to get ahold off ... but if he gives the ok .... i will post his pictures.

NC forged can make them in any size you want ... they are 3 peice wheels so any width or offset is not a problem ... the only thing is if the diameter is different it will change the look a little ... but i think going to a smaller diameter would look just fine.

It uses special center caps ... i will have 2 pair one that has the emblems off of the 82 center caps on them and then anouther set are coming with the C6 corvette logo on them. The center caps will look similar to stock but are only about 3/4 inch tall because the center of the wheel is so thick ... i didn't want something to stick out to far.

Here are some pictures of Norvals rear suspension mods ... he has given me the OK to post them.

Most important is the tire shreader

Norvals wheels are a 6.5 inch backspace

I'd forgtten that he modified a stock trailing arm. Is he running a transverse spring. I seem to recall he also modified his trailing arm for coil overs. I miss him and his trusty horse Strider. At least we still have Twin Turbo.
Bee Jay

Norval is running coil overs in all 4 corners .... ya he is missed ... but he is still into vettes ... he said, he still takes his car to shows once a week in the summer.

So he didn't sell it?

No he still has it ... he is just away from the forums because of all the bickering .. which is why i stick to VetteMOD ... people are alot better here ... it is a much more constuctive place to visit for solutions and offer ideas ... not preach what they think is should be!!!! or just plain old bashing

I still frequent the other corvette forums. I also frequent a Porsche forum and a Ferrari forum. You have to ignore the bs and negativity, and try to keep it positive. Some personalities can't ignore or walk away. I'm a lover, not a fighter,.....unless you say something bad about my wife or my car. Then it's on like donkey kong.:smash: :hunter:Calm down Bee Jay, did you take your meds today? I like helping kids and newbies on a budget because that is how I got into this hobby. Yes, it's a hobby for me. I'm an automotive enthusiast, or loosely translated, a car freak. Also, I get a lot of my questions answered that I used to have to figure out the hard, or expensive way. Norval, Twin Turbo and Lars has all helped me out alot. I try to pay it forward.

Back to the subject. I bet if they put those wheels into production, the price would come down, and they would sell like crazy. I run GM C5 Z06 repro wheels. I just came from the LA Auto Show. The new C6 Z06 wheels are ugly. They should have kept last years. The ZR1 wheels have too many spokes. You can't reach around them to wax your calipers. Yes, I'm sick, but I already told you I'm a car freak. The proposed Z28 Camaro wheels are the best looking GM wheels comming out. They are based on the old BBS "Y" wheel pattern. A few of us run repro wheels, and I bet a few of us would run C3 repro wheels if they came in 19" sizes.

i agree Bee Jay .... i started out on a very limited budget ... i bought my vette when i was 19 and working for $8 bucks an hour fixing fords.... a terrible time in my life ... it made me appreciate my vette all that much more. There were more than a few times i had a vette sitting in a garage and drove a POS 65 merc 1/2 ton with not one straight peice of sheet metal ... beacause i could not afford insurance.

I like to try to offer advice where i can ... i have wrecked alot of stuff ... or as Bee Jay put it ... learned the hard way .. so any time i can help, makes me feel better about my destructive tendencies...

Damn. speaking of Norval and bashing, there is a "where is Norval" thread on the other forum that just went really bad. No wonder why so many people are dumping that forum. Damn.
