cleaning gas tank, fuel crud... sludge...

I'd personally fill it with lye solution to dissolve the fat, then put it upside down and powerwash the inside.
If it's rusted, electrolysis then powerwash again.

Toluene works pretty quickly and won't etch the the metal.
If there is some interior rust alight acid like vinegar or for faster results, OSPHO or any phosphoric acid.

I wonder how many here know what a Whales pussy smells like?

I personally don't have a clue.

Don't know what the situation is with the year of your car. However, for my 68 and 70, I bought new fuel tanks from Quanta. They look like duplicate factory original tanks. I think they both cost in the low $200 range. Just buying new seems to be the best solution. I painted the outside of the tanks with Eastwoods Tank Tone paint.

I really worry about the 68. Don't drive it that much and the gas in it is 10% ethanol. Friday, I'm going to buy alcohol free racing gas. Hopefully there will be something that's not too expensive. I bet I'm looking at $10 a gallon. We'll see. I've been using Seafoam in it so far. $10 a gallon will be too expensive for a permanent solution. The 68 has a pot metal Holley carb (new). I think that's the critical item.

Check with 76. They have race fuel at some stations. Google it for a list.

Google Ethanol free gas, there is a station about 8 miles north of me that sells it....BP as I recall, but the price was over 4 bux/gallon and so some 50 cents above high test here.....

really tired of this EPA bullshit with boutique blends, and imaginary crap.....

Almost all of these additives are largely naptha. Seafoam is naptha, light oil and 20% alcohol. You wouldn't be adding large quantities, but additional alcohol can attract more moisture.
A while ago, I started using Startron in stuff that isn't used up right away.
Has naptha and enzymes. 9 bucks at Walmart treats 128 gallons. similar enzyme stuff can be found at marine box stores.
Has a lot of claims about e10, but I'm just interested in longer storage without alcohol.
