Does your C3 have items from previous/late years?

When I got my '79 Corvette it had a '78 anniversary edition badge on the gas filler cap (early carry over part) and a bent turn signal lever (late style). It took a while as I became more familiar with C3's before I realized that there were these little variations.
Now I just purchased this customized '76 and I realize it has a '77 style interior, specifically the center console, it has the window switches on the console, not the parking brake housing.

Have you found similar issues with your C3's?

There is NOTHING stock about my '72 vert, not nuttin/////

wheels to roof, nuttin, not one damn thing.....all you all can't find one damn thing that is stock or even close.....name it....this is a challenge.....

My '76 has a '75 hood, a '81 column, a '80 rear bumper a '77 Frame, late (glass) T-Top.
While all from early interior style, I'm pretty sure if a piece of my interior is from a '76 it's purely accidental.

<rant>
I'm surprised someone choose to swap from early to late interior, maybe that was all they had...
Early C3 interior is pretty sexy, in later one you can feel the spirit of the 80's creeping in, as straight and angular as a line of coke.

I suffer arthritis, and don't like side bolsters on ANY car and them snug fitting from ~78 up are OUT for me, I drive James Dean slouch left hand at 11-12 oclock on the wheel, leaning on my right arm on the console cushion....course my seating is totally modified too.....looks stock until you look twice with a thought.....

:bump:

I guess what I am trying to say is that it looks like the assemblers at the plant used up whatever old parts they had from the previous year, or if needed, borrowed from the upcoming production year to get the current cars being produced built.:bonkers: Did any of what I said make sense? I re read it and have a hard time with it. Maybe it's late and my head is foggy...

That used to happen a lot with "end of year" and "beginning of year" cars. Early 77's had the alarm switch on the DS front fender, later in the production it was moved to the DS door lock. They just wanted to get rid of the 76 fenders.

The biggest "replacement" was when they ran out of C2 small block hoods and the small block cars left teh factory wit big block hoods! Nice upgrade!!!

So what do the bloomington types DO??? do they have production records to search through...??

Gene, I don't know what Bloomington does but NCRS keeps records of VIN numbers when the come up with these "irregularities". I think the burden of proof is with the owner of the car.

We are the only ones that have (ap)prove of what we do with our cars!!:crylol::crylol:

I kind of agree with that, to an extent. The caveat though are the seats. The '79 ('78 pace car) and up seats are far better than pretty much any seat in any Corvette before, and even better than some that came after it.
I have a theory about that interior styling you're talking about. It was creeping in in the late 70's but took full grip of automotive styling in the 80's. I firmly believe that the stylists of the day were influenced by Star Wars. So many of the interiors (think Fiero for example) look like they could have been lifted straight from the Millennium Falcon.

I have parts ranging from 67 door handles to 2014 sill plates... and I use a 2012-13 factory cover on my wide body with tall mirrors... it all kinda fits ok LOL and if it dont... persuade it... LOL

I think the only stock pieces left on my car are the parking brake handle, windshield and the rear brake dust shields :nuts::nuts::nuts::nuts:

oh and the lower control arms... but not for long...

The frame, the convertible top frame, the windshield frame and convertible birdcage firewall frame, the windows and windshield glass, the fuel tank, the differential, the drive shaft, the cigarette lighter, the door hinges, the speedometer cable, the brake and clutch pedals, the battery cable to ground (frame) ...I could go on, but did I get some hits here?
